This reply got “lost” in my comments, and I am just now seeing it. I probably had some high expectations for it or something but I just can’t see the draw. I can’t even remember now who his friend was, Walter? Is it? The guy who had a gun in the bowling alley? I don’t find his kind of character funny. At first I thought the one who never listened was the annoying one I wanted to smack, but no, it turned out to be the gun-toting idiot. It could be that it was better back in 1998. Ya know? Some things you watch nowadays and they are so difficult to tolerate because in some area we have grown as a society and in acting ability. I might give it another try when I have absolutely nothing to do because I am locked in my house for the next month. 😉
no worries. Yeah Walter is his friend. I gotcha, I can understand how the movie isn’t for everyone, especially if you have an aversion for swearing haha. Personally I love his character, I think his acting is masterful. It’s a cult classic, they have lebowski fests to this day where fans get together, watch the movie, bowl, drink white russians and cosplay as characters from the movie. I got my brother a documentary about lebowski fests and the celebration of the movie called the achievers some years back. Hope you do and hope you enjoy it this time :). yeah the lockdown is starting to wear…
Recently tried watching this movie. We couldn’t get through it. I am thinking it must have a spectacular ending because so many people love it. What is it that makes it your favorite movie?
The first time I saw it I was 13 in like 1998 or ’99 there’s a bit of nostalgia there. It’s one that almost every time you watch it it gets better, there are so many fantastic and hilarious quotes, I identify with some of the characters and it’s just the fun story and incredible acting. I encourage you to give it another chance, watch the whole thing. It has some bittersweetness in the ending but overall, “things worked out pretty good there for the Dude and Walter, and it was a pretty good story too. Then there’s the dude taking. it easy for the rest of us sinners…Catch ya later on down the trail.” 🙂
